This eight-hour training is the Compensation Board's traditional Employment Law program. The goal of this program is to introduce you to the wide array of employment laws and how they affect you as an employer. You will be introduced to common mistakes made as an elected official and how you may best prevent an action against you. A test will be administered at the end of the program for Officers and Deputies who are working toward certification. Approval for 8 CLE hours has been requested from the VSB. DCJS Approval for Continuing Education/In-service Credits has also been requested.

Please DO NOT register directly with the hotel. We will register you.
Lodging is provided for the night prior to the training session (May 12th); your online registration will generate an email confirmation from the Compensation Board (confirmation will NOT be sent from the hotel). Travel (to and from the training) and dinner (Day One) will be reimbursed via Constitutional Officer Information Network (COIN) reimbursement system.
If a room reservation is requested and needs to be cancelled before the training, please send a cancellation email to Bill Fussell, william.fussell@scb.virginia.gov by Friday, April 25th, 2025.
Target Audience: Constitutional Officers, Regional Jail Superintendents or Chief Deputy in charge of Human Resources.
